Baseball Preview: Jordan Panthers

First-year Jordan coach Bryan Whitfield takes over for Roger Penticoff and has already had some success thanks to a more competitive nonleague schedule. The Panthers won just six games combined the last two years but are off to a 3-7 start already just a few weeks into the year.

“We’ve got more wins in us, we just have to keep progressing and believing we can compete,” said Whitfield, who works on campus at Jordan.

The Panthers showed how far they’ve progressed Monday in a loss against Millikan. Offensively, they struggled, failing to get a hit. Defensively, they played well even without their best pitcher starting on the mound, and turned a pair of double plays to end innings.

Key contributors include Rudy Medrano, Fernando Soto, Isaac Viera, and pitcher Adrian Lopez.
