Baseball Preview: Cabrillo Jaguars

The Cabrillo Jaguars (4-4, 0-2) have started another new era under another new coach. Pedro Torres has taken over the program, and despite not being able to schedule any tournaments this season because he got the job too late in the offseason, the first-time head coach has high expectations.

“I expect us to be in the playoffs,” Torres said. “This team is buying into building a program and improving in every aspect of the game.”

Senior Brian Murrillo is back at Cabrillo after transferring, and he leads the team with nine hits in his first 17 at bats. Murrillo is also one of few arms Torres plans to use on the mound. All-Moore League second baseman Tommy Earl is back for his junior season.

Cabrillo hosts Compton today, and faces Poly at Blair Field on Thursday.
