HIGH SCHOOL

Jason Robinson, Long Beach Poly Football

The junior USC commit was outstanding once again on Friday night in Poly’s Moore League opener. Robinson had eight catches for 177 yards and a touchdown.

Myles Jackson, Millikan Football

Millikan QB Myles Jackson was near-flawless against Wilson in a big win for the Rams. Jackson went 13-for-15, 251 yards and six touchdowns, also rushing for another 102 yards.

Aava Lilomaiava, Compton Football

Compton senior Aava Lilomaiava has been Mr Do-It-All for his team for four years on varsity. In a win over Cabrillo he had 111 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries, while also starring on defense at middle linebacker.

Allanah Smith, Wilson Volleyball

Allanah Smith led Wilson to a win over Poly to put them into a tie with Lakewood for first place. Smith had 15 kills, five digs, two aces, and two blocks in the four-set win over the Jackrabbits.

Fatima Hall, Lakewood Volleyball

Lakewood senior Fatima Hall is the best setter in the city, and proved it in leading her team to two wins over Millikan and Wilson last week, solidifying the Lancers as the first-place Moore League squad. Hall had 26 assists in the Millikan win and 29 against Wilson plus the game-winning kill.

COLLEGE

Ryley Fick, Long Beach State Cross COuntry

Ryley Fick claimed the individual women’s 6K title at the UCR Invitational. Her time of 20:07.5 also shattered the school record of 11 years and ranks in the top ten in UCR Ag Course history.

Ailene Rios, LBCC Cross Country

Aileen Rios (LBCC Soph. & Poly Grad) is on a roll with two overall wins at the first two junior college cross country invitationals this season. She won the San Diego XC Opener with a course-record 14:00 over 2.1 miles and won the Fresno Invitational at Woodward Park.

Qeanu Campbell-Caldwell, LBCC Football

Millikan alum Qeanu Campbell-Caldwell was the man of the night for the Vikings going 25-31 for 281 yards and throwing the game-winning touchdown with two seconds left on the clock.

Mike Guardabascio
An LBC native, Mike Guardabascio has been covering Long Beach sports professionally for 13 years, with his work published in dozens of Southern California magazines and newspapers. He's won numerous awards for his writing as well as the CIF Southern Section’s Champion For Character Award, and is the author of three books about Long Beach history.
