The562.org is a community funded nonprofit media outlet that covers sports, schools and education in the city of Long Beach with free articles, video highlights, photo galleries and more. Founded by Mike Guardabascio and JJ Fiddler in 2018, The562 is Long Beach’s first nonprofit media outlet.
Our staff has been covering Long Beach sports for two decades, and also began a paid student internship program with the LBUSD in 2021 that has produced dozens of professional journalists as well as students at the best collegiate programs in the country.
To date we’ve published over 13,000 free articles, photo galleries, and videos–all free and without paywall.
