Flag Football: Extreme Heat Causes Delays, Cancellations

It’s Opening Day for Moore League flag football, and triple-digit temperatures coupled with increased humidity have forced some schedule changes for local teams.

Compton High already cancelled its game on Tuesday afternoon against North Torrance due to the high temperatures, leaving C-High with a 7-0 record as they wrap up non-league play and set their sights on the newly-formed Hub City League.

Over at Millikan, the Rams have pushed the start time of their varsity game back by nearly four hours to dodge the hottest part of the day. Millikan’s league opener against Wilson will be played at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

As of posting time, the Jordan and Long Beach Poly game will remain at its regularly scheduled 5 p.m. start time in J-Town.
