Wilson Girls’ Soccer Coach Brian Irvin Steps Down After Five Seasons

The562’s coverage of Long Beach Wilson Athletics is sponsored by Joel Bitonio, Class of 2009.

Wilson girls’ soccer coach Brian Irvin has stepped down after five seasons leading the Bruins. Irvin had an overall record of 59-32-10 in five seasons including the 2022 Moore League championship.

“I want to thank the players, their families, my coaching staff, and the Wilson administration for the opportunity to lead this program over the past five years,” Irvin said in a statement. “It has been incredibly meaningful to return and coach at the school I once attended. I am deeply proud of what our student-athletes have accomplished both on and off the field, and I will always cherish our Moore League Championship in the 2021–2022 season. It has been an honor to work with such dedicated scholar-athletes and to see so many pursue their dreams of playing soccer at the collegiate level. I will continue to support and cheer on the Lady Bruins.”

Irvin played soccer at Wilson and is a member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

Wilson is now open to applications for its next varsity girls’ soccer coach. Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, resume, and two letters of recommendation to Athletic Director John Janzen at JJanzen@lbschools.net.
