Baseball: Kennard’s Three-Run Homer Anchors Millikan Past Arlington at Blair

The Millikan baseball team picked up a big non-league win over Arlington on Monday, riding a three-run home run to deep left field in the bottom of the third inning from senior Xavier Kennard en route to a 4-1 win at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field.

Kennard’s homer came after Arlington tied the game at a run apiece in the top of the inning, as Alan Machado drew a walk before Adrian Ramirez singled. Kennard then swung at a second-pitch fastball for the homer, which proved to be the difference as the teams then played four straight scoreless innings.

The Rams received a great start on the bump from right-hander Austin Brett, who scattered one hit and a run over three scoreless innings while racking up six strikeouts. Maison Crommie then finished off the evening for Millikan with four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts.

Ramirez had the Rams’ only other RBI in the bottom of the first inning with a line-drive single to score Shane Wally, finishing 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Wally went 2-for-4 with a single and a double, as the Rams totaled seven hits through six innings to Arlington’s three.

Millikan’s win over Arlington comes just three days after the Rams dropped a one-run matchup to Wilson at Blair Field, and they will be back in Moore League action on Friday with a key matchup at home against Long Beach Poly.
