The Moore League will be represented by six grapplers this week as they compete at the CIF State Wrestling Championship at the Diginity Health Arena in Bakersfield.
Wrestling begins on Thursday and goes through Saturday as the wrestlers will look to make the podium to cement themselves as one of the top wrestlers in the state. All the live action can be followed here.
Millikan junior Chris Anguiano has had a phenomenal year winning gold at the CIF Individual Meet and the Masters meet, but has his eyes on improving on his sixth place finish at last year’s championship.
Lakewood’s Ashley Wafer is back at the state tournament and she brings with her some new hardware after winning gold at the Masters meet last week. With the win she became the Lancers’ fourth Masters gold medalist since 2019.
She’ll look to cap her senior year by improving on her seventh place finish a year ago.
Long Beach Poly will have four competing this week and will be led by seniors Berlynn Solia-Tago, Salieni Paseka who are looking to podium for the first time after each of them made it to state last year. Solia-Tago and Paseka each earned bronze medals in their respective divisions at the Masters meet last week.
Joining Solia-Tago and Paseka are senior Lincoln Chung and junior Knox Espinoza who also earned bronze medals at the Masters meet.
