Long Beach High School Softball Preview

High school softball in Long Beach is enjoying a modern-day golden era. Championship teams, superstar athletes, and plenty of thrilling games to go around have made this a special time to be a local fan.

This year Millikan will look to continue its recent local dominance as they attempt a sixth consecutive Moore League championship, which would be the longest streak since Lakewood won seven straight from 1997-2003; it could also be the first time ever a team wins six in a row without sharing one. Long Beach Poly will look to win a second CIF-SS title after winning the first in program history last year. There has been plenty of high-level Division 1 talent at several local schools, and two of the last 10 top recruits in the nation have graced Long Beach softball fields, with St. Anthony’s Tiare Jennings and current Jackrabbit senior Ki’ele Ho-Ching.

Any angle you take on it, 2026 is bound to be another special season on the diamond in Long Beach.

This year’s athletes for our photo shoot were: Emoni Lam Sam (Long Beach Poly), Katelynn Lewis (Lakewood), Charlotte White (Wilson), Michelle Hernandez (Jordan), Ericka Soto (Compton), Samantha Chavez (Cabrillo), and Ariana Lara (St. Anthony). Millikan was unable to send their representative this year for a fun reason–the Rams were in Hawaii for the first weekend of the season.
