Jordan girls’ basketball coach Wesley Rosenbaum has been changing the culture in North Long Beach one game at a time–and those games have added up. Rosenbaum recently earned his 100th win in the state of California thanks to a 59-30 victory over Mayfair.
“What it means to me, it’s a milestone, but it shows our whole program that we’re doing this the right way, and we’re building our program with roots and a foundation,” he said. “Each year we’re getting a little bit more competitive and getting to a better division. The wins are great but it’s a level of basketball that we’re proud of, and the players and their development and belief in themselves. I’m really happy about the wins, yes, but it makes me reflect on how much work we’ve put in together, our coaching staff and our players.”
The Panthers are on the rise this season with a 13-7 overall record and a one-loss performance in the Moore League thus far that has them tied with Wilson and Lakewood for first place. The Panthers own wins over Los Alamitos, Long Beach Poly, Lakewood, Gahr, and Santa Monica among other programs.
The future is bright for the Panthers with young talent and a dedicated on-campus coach who has also become Jordan’s girls’ athletic director.
“I’m really excited with where the program is going,” said Rosenbaum.
