HIGH SCHOOL

Alexandra Rios, Millikan Girls’ Soccer

In a dominant 7-0 win over Lakewood, junior Alexandra Rios was working all across the field for the Rams. Her early shot in the first minute of the game was deflected to the feet of sophomore Adelyn Murphy, who got the scoring started for Millikan. Rios assisted the next goal, drew the penalty that led to the third and scored the fourth to cap off her performance.

Sophia Newland, Millikan Girls’ Water Polo

Roselyn Lucindo, Cabrillo Girls’ Water Polo

Cabrillo picked up a big win over Lakewood in the first game of the Moore League Water Polo Showcase. Freshman Roselyn Lucindo locked it down in goal for the Jags, making nine saves, including five in the second half alone when Cabrillo couldn’t find the back of the net anymore, in the 7-5 win.

Aniyah Lindsey, Lakewood Girls’ Basketball

The Lancers made history on Thursday when they handed Long Beach Poly their first Moore League loss in 17 years, snapping a 212-league game win streak. Freshman Aniyah Lindsey had a game-high 22 points in Lakewood’s victory.

Daniel Escobedo, Millikan Boys’ Wrestling

Carlos Casillas, Long Beach Poly Boys’ Soccer

Long Beach Poly had a tough game against the Cabrillo Jaguars, which saw a flurry of ten cards being shown and put the Jackrabbits down to nine men on the field. Despite being outnumbered, junior Carlos Casillas helped get the 2-2 draw, scoring both goals for the Poly including the equalizer in the final ten minutes.
