Long Beach State Baseball revealed its 2026 schedule on Tuesday, with a surprising number of home games on the slate for the upcoming season. Of the 54 games on the schedule, 35 of them are scheduled to be played on Bohl Diamond at Blair Field with just 19 road games.
The last time the Dirtbags played that many home games was in 2003, when they played 35 of their 61 games on their home field.
All four of the Dirtbags’ non-conference series will be played at home, with matchups against San Jose State, Washington State, BYU, and Oregon State.
Those first three opponents will all be in Long Beach over the first three weekends of the season, starting with a three-game set against the Spartans from Feb. 13-15.
Washington State will play a four-game series against the Dirtbags from Thursday, Feb. 19 through Sunday, Feb. 22.
Long Beach State closes out February with three games against BYU from Feb. 26-28, facing the former school of Dirtbags assistant coach Abe Alvarez, who was with the Cougars for three seasons as pitching coach.
The Dirtbags finish off a 12-game homestand to open the season on Mar. 3, hosting an exhibition game against Wasada University. LBSU’s first road game will be the next day, traveling south to play San Diego State.
Big West play opens that weekend, Mar. 6-8, with a road trip to face UC Santa Barbara.
Looking back at last season’s conference standings, the Dirtbags will be hosting series against three of the top four teams from 2025. LBSU will host fourth-place Hawai’i for their first conference home series Mar. 13-15, then welcome reigning Big West champs UC Irvine to Long Beach from Mar. 27-29.
Long Beach State’s annual rivalry series with Cal State Fullerton is scheduled for Apr. 10-12, kicking off a nine-game homestand through the middle of April.
After making a trip to the College World Series in 2025, Oregon State will visit Bohl Diamond at Blair Field for a marquee three-game series May 8-10, as the Dirtbags close the regular season out with a bang. Defending Big West Tournament champions Cal Poly are the last team on the Dirtbags’ 2026 schedule, playing a Thursday-Saturday series from May 14-16.
UC Irvine will host the 2026 Big West Tournament at Anteater Ballpark from May 20-24.
Long Beach State is coming off a 22-31 season with a 15-15 conference record in 2025, the first season under head coach T.J. Bruce. During the offseason, Bruce has reconstructed his coaching staff, bringing in an all-Dirtbags staff of Alvarez, Jon Strauss and Jeff Tagliaferri.
