More Than 30 Long Beach Entries Headed to CIF State Track Finals

The562’s cross country and track & field coverage is sponsored by Joe Carlson & Debbie Hughes.

More than 30 Long Beach entries are headed north at the end of the week for the CIF State Track and Field Finals, as 15 Wilson Bruins, 14 Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits and a pair of Lakewood Lancer entrants will compete in Clovis in the Friday prelims. Last year 30 Long Beach entries competed on Friday with 23 making it through to Saturday’s finals.

Once again Long Beach’s two premier programs are already champions, with Long Beach Poly winning the boys’ CIF-SS Division 1 championship and runner-up in the girls’, while the Wilson girls’ squad brought home the Division 1 gold plaque. The Bruin girls are favored to repeat as state champions, with Poly likely their closest team competitor.

The562 will have live updates and full coverage from Clovis on Friday and Saturday.
