CIF Wrestling: CIF-SS Girls Masters Meet Starts

There are plenty of storylines heading into Saturday’s CIF Southern Section Girls Wrestling Masters Meet at Sonora High School. 

There are 13 grapplers from the Moore League each with different paths on the road to the Masters with a chance to qualify for the State Tournament.

Lakewood senior Ashley Wafer is looking to punch her ticket back to the state tournament as she competes in the heavyweight gold division bracket. 

Juliana Reyes represents the westside as the lone competitor on the girls side as she competes in the 105-pound blue division, she’s joined by Jordan’s Emelia Defour who is competing in the 155-pound blue division bracket.

Millikan has three grapplers all competing in the blue division. Jaelen Escala is in the 105-pound bracket, while Amiyah McIntyre is in the 130-pound bracket and Gabriela Bonilla is in the 140-pound bracket. 

Long Beach Poly has the biggest contingent of wrestlers competing with seven competing across the blue and gold divisions. Selieni Paseka is the top seed in the gold division 190-pound bracket, while Riley Pestanas and Nicole Comia are competing in the 105 and 110-pound brackets respectively. Blessings Losia is in the heavyweight bracket.

In the blue division, Kayla Chagala (125), Devyn Kripp (145), and Berlynn Solia-Tago (170) represent the Jackrabbits. 

The top four placers from each of the blue and gold divisions will punch their ticket to the State tournament.
