The Long Beach Poly wrestling program returned to the mat on Wednesday afternoon against Jordan coming off of a sweep against Lakewood. The meet gave the Jackrabbits a chance to build on early momentum, and they did just as the girls claimed a 54-3 win while the boys came out with a 83-0 victory.

The girls lineup only consisted of four head-to-head duals, as Jordan had to forfeit a few matches due to roster circumstances. Poly started with Nicole Comia, who earned a pin against Kamila Flores.

After a forfeit from both teams in the next match, Poly jumped ahead 18-0 thanks to a win from Maribel Quezada over Jaeden Acevedo.

Jordan didn’t back down in the next match, with Alicia Martinez scoring against Kayla Chagala to cut the lead to 18-3.

After four straight forfeits by Jordan, Berlynn Solia-Tago closed the meet with a victory against Emelia Defour, which sealed a 54-3 win for the Poly girls.

The Poly boys entered the dual with an early advantage after Jordan forfeited the first five matches, which gave the Jackrabbits a 24-0 lead before any action.

In the opening match, Knox Espinoza pinned Ricardo Luna to extend Poly’s lead to 30-0.

Poly extended its advantage once again with three consecutive wins via forfeit before another win from Rocky Lo over Nathaniel Minton.

The dual continued with three more forfeits that widened the lead, setting the stage for the closing matches. Jordan Dizon secured a win against Emmanuel Magallenes, before heavyweight Sammy Vai Timu followed that up with a victory over David Velasquez.

Those results capped a dominant performance, as the Poly boys’ team completed the sweep of Jordan with an 83-0 outcome.
