Kennah Iamaleava, Long Beach Poly Girls’ Volleyball
The Jackrabbits put up a good fight against top-seeded Harvard-Westlake on the road in the CIF State Division I playoffs. Iamaleava notched 11 digs paired with 20 kills on .538 hitting.
Nadia Mejia, Wilson Girls’ Cross Country
The Wilson Girls’ Cross Country squad qualified for the CIF-SS championships after finishing second in their prelims heat. Mejia led the way for the Bruins, placing 7th in her heat with a time of 17:22.
COLLEGE
Logan King, LBSU Women’s Volleyball
Long Beach State got a huge win over UC Davis, who sits at the top of the Big West standings. Freshman Logan King was a huge help for the Beach, racking up 16 kills in the four-set win.
Harper Stewart, LBSU Men’s Water Polo
The Beach’s match against No. 12 LMU came down to the wire and after two overtime periods, No. 7 Long Beach pulled off the win in sudden death. Sophomore Harper Stewart scored two goals during regulation and capped the night off with a hat trick after scoring the difference-maker to secure the win for the Beach 16-15.
