The Long Beach Poly girls’ volleyball team (28-10) was knocked out of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs in the semifinals, but the Jackrabbits’ season isn’t over. Poly moved up a slot and received the No. 9 seed into the CIF State Division 1 Playoffs, which will begin on Tuesday.
That’s the good news. The bad news? The Jackrabbits got a classic CIF State road trip–they travel to No. 8 San Luis Obispo High on Tuesday evening.
“My first thought looking at the bracket?” asked Poly coach Gerald Aquiningoc. “It’s far.”
Poly will try to earn a narrow upset over the 27-7 Tigers. If Poly wins they’ll face the winner of Harvard-Westlake (on the road) and San Marcos (at home) on Thursday evening.
