PREVIEW: Compton Vs. Millikan, Football

The562’s coverage of Millikan Athletics for the 2025-26 school year is sponsored by Brian Ramsey and TLD Law.

When the season started the Millikan and Compton football teams had high hopes for their 2025 campaigns.

Millikan (2-7, 2-3) was fresh off their first outright Moore League title since 1973 and was excited about some new faces they had joining the program to go with a senior core that had the Rams ready to compete for a second straight title. For Compton (4-4, 2-2), they had just opened their brand new campus and saw new excitement in the community as the football program had its best numbers in years and the Tarbabes welcomed some new faces on the roster that gave the coaching staff confidence the team would compete in the Moore League and in the playoffs.

However, the Rams football program saw their season impacted when the CIF Southern Section office ruled eight transfers ineligible – which included having to forfeit two non-league games.

Since then, the Rams have picked up wins against Jordan and Cabrillo but fell short in their grudge match against Poly (24-22) and a defensive battle to Lakewood (3-0). The Rams will look to finish the regular season with a win as they look to push their win streak against Compton to six games.

Millikan will continue to get their freshman quarterback Jonah Tuaniga more experience and he’ll lean on the seniors around him with Jude Nelson, Samson Khan and Landon Ross. Sophomore Ryan Carter has also shown some flashes of what he can be with some nice runs the last couple weeks.

Compton is on the outside looking in for a playoff spot and will need at least one win over the last two weeks to give them a shot at an at-large bid.

After having to sit the first six games of the season, Leton Washington and Edward Rivera made an immediate impact when they made their debut against Wilson – falling short of tying the game on a two-point conversion. The Tarbabes are coming off a 38-21 homecoming win against Jordan.

Micah Hawkins has become one of Washington’s favorite targets since joining the team and he will need to be involved if Compton wants to beat Millikan for the first time since 2019. Compton’s Nate Willard was a big difference maker for the Tarbabes early on and is always a threat out of the backfield as one of the team’s playmakers.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Compton.
