CIF-SS Flag Football Brackets Released

The playoff brackets for flag football were released Friday afternoon by the CIF-Southern Section office, with four Long Beach area teams finding out their postseason draws.

The second season of CIF flag football playoffs sees the sport grow from five divisions to six, with 16 teams in the Division 1 bracket and 32 teams in each of the lower divisions.

Four teams out of the Moore League earned their spot in the playoffs, with co-champions Long Beach Poly and Millikan followed by Compton and Jordan in spots three and four, respectively.

Division 3

The Moore League’s co-champions find themselves in the same playoff division, and could meet in the quarterfinals if they each win their first two games.

Coming off a run to the Division 2 semifinals a season ago, Long Beach Poly (12-11) will look to make an even deeper run in a lower division this year. The three-time league champs will be on the road in Tuesday’s playoff opener, visiting Villa Park (12-11), the second place team out of the Freeway League.

Poly and Villa Park have a common opponent this season in El Toro. The Jackrabbits lost their only meeting Sept. 11 by a score of 37-6, while the Spartans lost to El Toro twice, by scores of 26-0 and 28-19.

Also in the D3 bracket is Millikan (14-5), coming off their first ever Moore League title in flag football. The Rams will get to host Valencia of Placentia (15-3) on Tuesday. In last year’s flag football playoffs, the Rams won their opener in Division 3 before falling in round two, but they’re a more talented and experienced squad this time around.

The Tigers have won 7 of their last 8 games and have an impressive 8-1 road record this season. Valencia actually opened the season against a Moore League opponent back on Aug. 11, securing a 28-13 win at Jordan.

Division 4

Next up is Compton (19-3), making their postseason debut with a trip to play Sierra Vista (18-5) in Baldwin Park.

The Tarbabes nearly earned a share of the Moore League crown with big wins over Poly and Millikan in consecutive games, and will surely be eager to prove themselves once again in the postseason. Compton went 10-0 against non-Moore League teams in 2025 and will look to continue that trend over the next few weeks.

The Sierra Vista Dons were the 10-0 champs of the Montview League and have a strong 9-1 record at home this season. They lost their final game of the regular season, 31-28, against St. Lucy’s, snapping a 12-game winning streak.

Division 5

Also making their postseason debut in flag football are the Jordan Panthers (10-7), and they’ll be playing their playoff opener on the blue turn in J-Town. Costa Mesa (11-7) will be making the trip to North Long Beach on Tuesday evening for round one.

Jordan went an even 6-6 in the Moore League this season, only losing to the three other playoff teams while outsourcing their other three opponents by a combined score of 165-8.

The Mustangs were the No. 3 team out of the Golden West League, and they won 4 of their last 5 games to reach the postseason.

Playoff games are scheduled to start at 5 p.m., but be sure to follow The562 on social media for updates on start times throughout the postseason.
