The Wilson cross country program continued its strong start to the season over the weekend, with the girls’ team taking first place at the Laguna Hills Invitational.
Senior Nadia Mejia paced the Bruins in a time of 17:46.2 to finish second in the race, running the fastest time in program history on the course. Audrey Buckley ran an 18:26.2 to finish seventh, and Riley Jones (11th, 18:52.9) and Ashlei Aguayo (14th, 18:55.8) each recorded Top 15 finishes.
The performance backs up a lofty ranking for the Wilson girls–as of Sept. 22 they were ranked as the No. 4 team in CIF-SS Division 1 by PrepCalTrack.
In the boys’ varsity race, senior Tommy Pincherli led the way for a trio of Wilson runners. His time of 15:29.5 was good for a third-place finish and is the fastest for any Bruin ever at Laguna Hills.
