A pair of 3-0 football teams will lock horns on Friday night at Wilson High as the Bruins welcome in Dana Hills for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Raudric Curtis era is off to a flying start as Wilson has outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 121-35. Last Friday, they took down Sunny Hills by a score of 49-21.
Senior QB Mack Cooper threw for five TDs in the victory, and running back Kori Scott racked up 167 yards on the ground with a pair of scores. The Bruins have showcased a balanced attack this season, with a number of different weapons including WR Thomas Jones, who already has five TD grabs on the young season.
Wilson hasn’t started a season 4-0 since winning their first six games in 2019, on their way to a 10-2 record and a second-place finish in the Moore League.
Dana Hills has seen their margin of victory increase each week, culminating in a 63-7 win over Esperanza last week.
The Dolphins have fed senior running back Radley Geiss a ton in the early going. Through three games he has 56 of the team’s 73 rushing attempts, averaging 7.7 yards per carry and 144 yards per game. He also has four rushing TDs on the season.
Sophomore QB Carter Anderson has a sub-50 completion percentage at just 30/63 for 465 yards, but his 6:1 TD:INT ratio is solid. His favorite target is James Leicester, who has 19 grabs for 374 yards and four scores.
If Wilson’s defense, which had a great second half last week, can key in on Geiss and Leicester, they’ve got a shot to enter Moore League play as the only unbeaten team in the city.
The last meeting between Wilson and Dana Hills was in Week 2 of the 2023 season. Dana Hills protected their home turf with a 41-10 victory over the Bruins.
