HIGH SCHOOL

Trevor Thompson, Millikan Wrestling

Coach’s son Trevor Thompson knows plenty about Millikan’s wrestling legacy, and the junior added his own name to that history at the Moore League Finals on Saturday. Thompson won his third consecutive league title at 126 pounds via a quick pin.

Makaih Williams, St. Anthony Basketball

St. Anthony sophomore Makaih Williams was a big part of why the Saints were able to win the Del Rey League championship against Bishop Montgomery last week. Williams had nine of his 12 points in the fourth quarter, including a pair of 3-pointers that put the Saints in the lead for the first time.

Ashlee Lewis, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Long Beach Poly clinched a 14th consecutive Moore League championship last week, and the Jackrabbits rode the shoulders of their post player, Fullerton signee Ashlee Lewis. The senior had 17 points and 10 rebounds against Wilson, then put up 10 points and 15 rebounds against Millikan.

Rafael Cruz III, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Poly sophomore Rafael Cruz III was playing in his second-ever varsity game on Thursday, and he made the most of it. He put up 16 points for the Jackrabbits which, along with 28 from star Peyton Watson, helped Poly to a win over Millikan and an 11th straight league title.
