TJ DeFalco, Long Beach State Volleyball
Senior TJ DeFalco had five aces in a sweep of UCLA last weekend, obliterating the UCLA defense even with the serves that didn’t find the floor. DeFalco is now just seven aces shy of the school record. He also had six kills, five aces, three digs, a block, and an assist in the win.
Jamiu Akinbile, LBCC Basketball
The LBCC men’s basketball team is 22-4 and is No. 10 in the state. They had two wins last week, and Jamiu Akinbile had a huge hand in a critical victory over Compton. Akinbile had 28 points, four rebounds, and six assists while playing all 40 minutes of the game.
Nichole Fry, Long Beach State Softball
Senior Nichole Fry had a highlight-reel game last week. Fry started the season injured and has had to work her way back into things. On Sunday in a game against Oregon State, Long Beach was trailing early and tied it in the seventh inning to force extras. Fry’s walkoff home run to left field gave Long Beach State a thrilling 6-4 win over the Beavers.
