Millikan Signing Day Honors Scholarship Seniors

The Rams hosted a lunchtime Signing Day ceremony for their eight seniors moving on to play in college. Millikan boys’ athletic director Kevin Marchael said that it was important to him to recognize the scholarship athletes at the school this year.

“Whether you’re doing to a D1 or a D2 or an NAIA, getting a free education through sports is a big deal and we want to celebrate them,” he said.

Jaylen Jefferson and De’Jon Van Hook are going to Arizona Christian together, something they said wasn’t a coincidence.

“He’s like my brother, so I always said if I got an offer I’d take care of him,” said Jefferson. “When I talked to the coach I told him about De’Jon, they looked at film, they called him up.”

“I was so happy after they offered, he was the first person I called to tell,” said Van Hook, pointing at Jefferson. “Then I called my mom.”

The Rams will hold another celebration for their signees during the school’s annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser later this year.

Here’s the full list of Millikan signees:

Jonathan Green (basketball, Lewis & Clark College), Jaylen Jefferson (football, Arizona Christian University), Zach Martin (football, Azusa Pacific), De’Jon Van Hook (football, Arizona Christian University), Cody Bey (baseball, Wagner College), Gretchen Goldsmith (softball, Cal Baptist), Maya Desota (Cottey College), Rachel Rubio (La Verne College).
