HIGH SCHOOL

Erin Anderson, St. Anthony Soccer

The Saints won two games last week to improve to 5-1 on the season, and Arizona State signee Erin Anderson is a big reason why. Anderson had the game-winner in a 2-1 win early in the week and then two goals in a 7-0 win later in the week.

Will Frankenfeld, Long Beach Poly Cross Country

The Long Beach Poly senior finished 14th in the nation at the prestigious FootLocker Nationals in San Diego last weekend. Frankenfeld’s 15:52 5K time was the third in the Western United States region and the top finish by a California runner.

COLLEGE

De’Brianna Hampton, LBCC Basketball

It wasn’t a great week for any of Long Beach’s college basketball teams, but LBCC freshman De’Brianna Hampton was a bright spot. The Vikings went 1-2 but Hampton averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds in the three games.

ALUMS

Raul Lara, Weightlifting

Poly alum and football coaching great Raul Lara is now running the gridiron program at Warren, but he’s also pumping iron in his offtime. Participating in his first weightlifting competition last weekend, Lara won the gold for his age division with a squat of 427 pounds, bench press of 380 pounds, and deadlift of 502 pounds.
