PREVIEW: Avalon Visits Mojave For CIF 8-Man Quarterfinals

The Avalon Lancers are facing a familiar opponent in the CIF Southern Section 8-Man Division 1 quarterfinals tonight at 7:30 when they travel to Mojave.

Avalon won the 2013 playoff meeting with Mojave, and the Mustangs got some payback in the 2014 semifinals, but the Lancers won the rubber match in the 2015 championship game.

“Mojave is a team that I have a ton of respect for,” Avalon coach Michael Forcella said. “They are a good team, but as we have proven so far this season, so are we. The guys are ready and focused.”

Avalon (9-1) is on a five-game winning streak and has outscored its opponents 385-85. Mojave (8-0) is on an eight-game winning streak and has outscored its opponents 593-76.

The Lancers haven’t reached the semifinals since 2015.
