HIGH SCHOOL

Aliya Mesihovich, Wilson Cross Country

Wilson won their first Moore League girls’ cross country championship in 15 years last Wednesday, thanks in large part to junior Aliya Mesihovich, who won the individual championship as well. Mesihovich won all three league meets this year, and finished in 18:14 at league finals, 38 seconds faster than her nearest competitor.

Will Frankenfeld, Long Beach Poly Cross Country

Poly senior Will Frankenfeld is in the midst of a special season. Last week he won his second Moore League individual title with a huge course record, running a 14:32, more than 20 seconds faster than the previous best. Frankenfeld is in the mix for CIF, State, and national championships this year.

Qeanu Campbell-Caldwell, Millikan Football

Millikan quarterback Qeanu Campbell-Caldwell had yet another signature performance in the Rams’ first-round playoff win last week, with 232 yards passing on 14/18 completions, with four touchdowns. The game gave QCC the school records in both career yardage and touchdown passes, before the end of his junior season.

COLLEGE

Dana Fujikuni, Long Beach State Soccer

Long Beach State senior Dana Fujikuni had a signature week. In the same week she was named Big West Midfielder of the Year, Fujikuni also helped lead her team to the Big West Tournament championship, with dominant midfield play that saw her earn Big West Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.
