Long Beach State Women’s Soccer Wins At Hawaii

A week after its frustrating one-goal conference opener on the road, Long Beach State women’s soccer bounced back to score a 3-2 Big West win at Hawaii on Thursday night.

Hawaii (6-5-1, 1-2-0) took the lead on a 23rd minute own goal, but LBSU (6-4-2, 1-0-1) got goals from Katie Pingel (30′), Taylor Bistline (71′) and Sarah Maher (78′) on assists from Elysia Laramie, Rola Badawiya and Dana Fujikuni to take a 3-1 advantage. The 49ers have an assist on all 23 goals scored this season.

Hawaii added a late penalty kick in the 88th minute. BOX SCORE

LBSU outshot its hosts 14-11, but Hawaii had six shots on goal and the 49ers only had one shot on goal in the second half. LBSU goalkeeper Imani McDonald made four saves, and Hawaii’s Alexis Mata made six saves.

The Beach returns to George Allen Field next weekend to host Cal Poly on Thursday, and UC Santa Barbara on Sunday.
