PREVIEW: Lakewood Football vs. Camarillo

The Lakewood Lancers (1-4, 1-1) are taking a break from Moore League play this week with a trip to Camarillo.

“We’ve let some game get away from us so we are focusing on cleaning up the mistakes that caused that,” Lakewood coach Mike Christensen said. “Camarillo is solid in all phases. There is a reason they are 5-0, but we feel good about pulling an upset.”

Camarillo (5-0) is the No. 1 ranked team in CIF-SS Division 4 after outscoring its opponents 234-46. Junior running back Jesse Valenzuela is averaging 157 yards rushing per game with 11 touchdowns. The Scorpions defense has 20 sacks this season.

Lakewood will still be without running back Sebastian Kronberger for the third consecutive week.
