Four days of elite sailing off of Belmont Pier hosted by the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club ended Sunday with two champions. American Olympian Charlie Buckingham won the Bruce Kirby Cup, and Canadian Olympian Brenda Bowskill was the North American Radial Champion.
Bowskill led wire-to-wire in the 80-boat Laser Radial fleet, and she finished ahead of fellow Canadian Sarah Douglas and 18-year-old Joseph Hou— an Alamitos Bay Yacht Club member.
Buckingham is a four-time Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association All-American from Newport Beach.
