Long Beach Poly Alum Chase Utley To Announce Retirement

Long Beach Poly alum and 16-year MLB player Chase Utley is set to announce his retirement in a press conference at Dodgers Stadium at 3:15 p.m. according to multiple media reports. Utley is expected to announce that his retirement will come at the end of the season (he is under contract through 2019).

Utley is a six-time All-Star who won a World Series with the Phillies in 2008 and is considered a ‘bubble’ Hall of Famer.

We will tweet live updates from the press conference at 3:15 p.m. on our Twitter account, @562sports and have a full story after.

If you’re wondering: Yes, Chase Utley is a Hall of Famer.

Chase Utley will hold a press conference today, the Dodgers announce. He never does that.

Chase Utley will be announcing his retirement at the end of the season, as @Joelsherman1 said. Despite the press conference, it’s actually very on-brand for Utley: wants to talk about it once, then not have to address it again going forward.

If this IS a retirement press conference for Chase Utley, it’s been one Hell of a career.
