World Jiu-Jitsu Championships Returning To Long Beach

For a third consecutive year, Long Beach sports fans will be treated to the world’s best Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, as the Sport Jiu-Jitsu International Federation has announced that the SJJIF’s World Championship series will once against return to the city. The 2018 event will be held  Oct. 26-28 at the Long Beach arena, and will feature thousands of competitors and $67,000 in cash prizes, more than double what was awarded last Fall.

The event was hosted in the Pyramid two years ago, and at the Arena in 2017, where more than 8,000 fans came to see some of the best grappling on the planet.

In addition to the World Championships for black belts, the SJJIF will host its second Adapted Jiu-Jitsu World Championships, with three inclusive categories. The SJJIF will host a tournament for deaf athletes, a Para Jiu-Jitsu tournament for athletes with physical disabilities and impairments, and a third tournament for athletes with intellectual and cognitive disabilities and impairments.
