Long Beach Sports Calendar

Find out where the local Moore League and college games will be this weekend.

FRIDAY

Long Beach State Dirtbags at Cal State Fullerton, 7 p.m.
The best rivalry in the Big West won’t count in the conference standings this weekend as the Dirtbags visit the Titans in the annual nonconference series. This is the eighth consecutive year that the teams will play an extra series to boost RPI and attendance.

Last year, LBSU swept Fullerton for the first time since 2002 in this series. The Dirtbags lost two out of three in the conference series, and then the Titans edged LBSU in the NCAA Super Regional. This series continues at 6 p.m. on Saturday, and concludes at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Long Beach City College Beach Volleyball, 10 a.m.
The Vikings swept Mt. San Antonio College, Cypress College and Orange Coast last Friday at Granada Beach, and they will be back on their home sand today to take on El Camino and Mt. SAC.

High School Swimming, 3 p.m.
The second day of the Moore League meet schedule features Millikan at Wilson, Jordan at Lakewood and Poly at Cabrillo.

Long Beach City College Men’s Volleyball vs. Santa Monica, 6 p.m.
The top-ranked Vikings (13-0) open conference play at home against Santa Monica. Sophomore Steven Rotter leads LBCC with 117 kills. Freshman Carlos Hernandez has a team-high 1.71 blocks per set.

Long Beach State Women’s Tennis vs. Dartmouth, 1 p.m.
LBSU is finishing a five-match homestand with nonconference action against Dartmouth before pair of Big West matches at Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara next week.

High School Baseball, 3:30 p.m.
Lakewood faces Cabrillo before Millikan takes on Jordan tonight in the first Friday night Moore League doubleheader of the season at Blair Field. In other action, Wilson is at Compton.

High School Gymnastics, 3 p.m.
Today is the first full schedule for the Moore League and its seven members. Millikan hosts Burroughs while Lakewood travels to Wilson and St. Joseph’s takes on Valley Christian at the YMCA. READ SEASON PREVIEW.

SATURDAY

Long Beach State Softball at Loyola Marymount, 1 p.m.
This doubleheader in Los Angeles will be the last nonconference action of the season for LBSU. The 49ers are on a five-game winning streak, and beat LMU 9-6 last weekend at the Lions’ tournament.

Long Beach City College Baseball vs. Compton, 3 p.m.
The Vikings will be at the MLB Youth Academy in Compton this afternoon for a rescheduled doubleheader because of the rain.

Long Beach State Women’s Water Polo at UCLA, 3 p.m.
The 49ers only have five matches left this season, and they start at No. 4 UCLA. The Bruins are 22-0 against LBSU.

Long Beach City College Softball at Ventura Tournament
The Vikings are taking on Antelope Valley at 10:15 p.m. and Porterville at 2:45 p.m. today before facing Glendale and Mt. San Jacinto on Sunday.
