The Long Beach State softball team is earning its new No. 22 ranking this week at the San Diego Classic.
Today, senior pitcher Jessica Flores allowed one hit while striking out eight to beat Santa Clara 8-0 in six innings. Yesterday, sophomore Cielo Meza pitched her second complete-game shutout of the season, and also only allowed one hit in a 2-0 win over host San Diego.
Junior Nichole Fry delivered the two RBIs in the San Diego win, and the 49ers offense got started early against Santa Clara.
LBSU (14-3) is currently playing UCF in the final game of the day at the San Diego Classic.
